The Product Development Engineer will report directly to the New Product Development Manager. This position is intended for an engineer with an electrical or software engineering background. The Product Development Engineer is responsible for the following:
Collaborate within a team of product engineers with mechanical, electrical, and software specialties to continue innovating Seakeeper’s core technologies to deliver new products with challenging expectations in a timely manner.
Lead development on Seakeeper’s user interface (touchscreen display and communication protocols).
Manage and communicate with development partners and suppliers.
Manage project timelines with the ability to evaluate and communicate risk.
Develop and execute validation test plans for electronic hardware and software.
Create and maintain specifications and designs to guide the development of future products.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Qualified candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree in electrical or software engineering at an accredited institution. They must also have a strong applied design background with 1-3 years of experience. They must have a strong understanding of CAN and Ethernet communications. Candidates must be proficient in C/C++. Engineers with less than 1 year of experience must have strong collegiate design experience in addition to their senior design project and a minimum 3.2 GPA. This could come in the form of an intercollegiate engineering competition such as Formula Hybrid, a summer internship, or a co-op opportunity. Qualified applicants must be professional, responsive, resourceful, flexible, and maintain a positive work attitude. Must be able to work independently, maintain filing systems and basic databases, gather and analyze information skillfully, and must possess the ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgments while supporting reasoning for decisions.
Embedded hardware design experience is a plus. Experience with distributed control systems is desired. Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment a plus. Excellent writing skills including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation are always preferred.
