The basic function of the Supervisor of Electrical Engineering is the control, training, development and direction of Electrical and I&C Engineers and Interns. The Supervisor reports to the Manager of Engineering.
Hire, organize, train, discipline, direct, and coordinate assigned personnel and project related work assignments.
Effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
Simultaneously perform multiple assignments.
Interface effectively with different levels of the organization both internally and with clients.
Strong knowledge of engineering services, especially nuclear.
Subject Matter Expert in at least two topic areas and developing expertise in one or more subject matters.
Assist Project Manager with scope, budget estimate, input to staffing needs and schedule comparison if requested.
Maintain budget awareness relating to Supervisor hours allotted and assists to develop recovery plans.
Ensure professional development of staff.
Assist with Sales function by making client visits with Project Manager.
Act as technical resource and mentor for subordinate engineers in the same discipline or other discipline if required.
Assist Project Manager with project progress reports and identifies problem areas.
Assist with Quality Assurance audits.
Understand project pricing and budget structure.
Conduct periodic reviews of project quality.
Arrange for Technical Quality Reviews as needed.
Perform engineering work in support of DPE projects or consulting engagements.
May be required to take temporary assignments at customer locations to support business needs and requirements.
Four year college degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or equivalent experience in engineering related activities in industries served by DPE.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Five or more years’ experience as Engineering Department supervisor of an equivalent engineering firm with multiple branches with a minimum of $10,000,000 in annual sales OR five or more years’ experience as a Supervisor at a nuclear utility.
Fifteen (15) years’ experience in design, systems, or construction engineering performing engineering tasks supporting nuclear and industrial projects.
Dynamic individual with the ability and skills to mold and motivate subordinate assigned personnel and staff as a whole to achieve the Company’s goals as established.
Must be able to obtain unescorted access to a Nuclear Facility. This includes passing drug and alcohol screening, a background check and plant access training.
Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions - Requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
Occasional long, irregular hours
Use of a PC, computer terminal and/or telephone over 4 hours a day.
