Prepares research and analysis and writes reports on a wide range of transportation planning and parking services issues and programs, including policies and practices related to Electric and Automated Vehicles, bikeshare, and integrated Mobility As A Service.
Leads or assists with preparing and updating policy documents, including development of a comprehensive City Parking Strategy, in turn supporting the City’s Transportation and Sustainability Strategies.
Reviews proposed developments at a design stage from a transportation planning perspective.
Coordinates moderately complex transportation planning projects, including evaluation of LRT-associated parking requirements. Conduct surveys and identifies relevant transportation planning issues.
Reviews designs and reports prepared by consultants and stakeholders. Reviews and administers contracts.
Researches and provides recommendations in regards to projects, policies and programs on topics including rationalization of parking ratios for transit-oriented-development, including Cash-in-Lieu practices for parking ratio reductions in new developments.
Assists with conducting public meetings and leading focus group sessions.
Participates as a member of task forces or planning teams. Liaises with staff and stakeholder groups in relation to the work. Provides information and responds to inquiries from staff, consultants and other stakeholders.
Prepares and maintains a variety of records, reports and documentation related to the work.
Leads, trains and/or mentors junior staff.
Makes site inspections in connection with assignments where necessary.
Assists other staff in performing their duties.

Applicant under consideration will be able to demonstrate:
Effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to interpret and present complex information to different audiences including professionals and the public.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research and produce, interpret, and present draft policy.
Effective customer service skills and ability to act as a representative of the City in dealing with the public and internal stakeholders.
Master’s Degree in Planning or a related discipline and a minimum of three years’ experience in a transportation or related profession.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
A valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
