The person hired for the position of Automotive Quality Engineer will be responsible for quality programs of major importance to the corporation’s initiative in the Automotive Industry. They will lead and coordinate gap assessments to the Automotive Industry expectations in addition to supporting product quality for the applicable materials.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Supports International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 internal audits across the divisions supporting Automotive and manufacturing sites as part of an audit pool
Directs and engages CSD manufacturing sites with respect to Customer Product and Service Complaint Corrective Actions, Customer Notifications, Customer portals, and Customer Specific Requirements.
Documents results, observations and conclusions in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files) and prepares reports to communicate results to appropriate personnel
May train, counsel, and guide engineers, managers and directors in IATF and customer specific requirements across multiple divisions supporting the Automotive Industry
Ensures appropriate level of conformance to IATF16949 / International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 and applicable customer specific requirements
Identifies, plans, recommends, and completes quality programs for the division, shares best practices amongst AE divisions
Creates and maintains extensive network of resources (quality, laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments
Independently performs project planning. Establishes project objectives and priorities
Maintains a flow of major quality contributions such as material/product/process and system innovations and understandings, and documents and communicates these learning via internal reports, technical presentations and/or publications
Maintains an awareness of product quality improvement opportunities and is productive in evaluating ideas and making proposals
Functions as an effective team leader and promotes harmonious and efficient working relationships
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
Minimum of two (2) years of combined Quality Engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline from an accredited university
Experience in the Automotive Industry, including Supplier Management in a private, public, government or military environment
Experience with Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Core Tools such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Experience with IATF16949, with understanding of ISO17025 (Laboratory Accreditation)
Experience as an auditor
Certifications in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management e.g American Society for Quality-ASQ certification(s): Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP)
Black Belt or Green Belt experience
Experience working on a cross functional team
Skills include communication, writing, handling conflict
Microsoft Office proficient, Minitab or another statistical tool a plus
Location: Maplewood, MN
Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international
