Enclos is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team based in Eagan, MN. Experienced engineer who can be assigned abstract tasks or portions of projects that are reviewed by a lead Professional Engineer. Provides engineering services associated with the design, fabrication, and installation of curtainwall systems. Expected to further develop structural engineering and curtainwall knowledge.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs project-wide structural engineering analysis and design calculations under the supervision of a P.E.
Drafts solutions using hand sketches and computer aided design (CAD).
Analyzes systems and components using hand calculations and computer aided engineering (CAE) software.
Designs façade to follow Enclos’ methods of best practice, building code, material design code, project specification, and vendor literature.
Works collaboratively in diverse teams solving abstract and complex problems.
Demonstrates strong oral and written communication to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervising P.E.
Must make P.E. aware of problems or situations that arise in design or field.
Assigned projects that are abstract and require the investigation of limited number of variables.
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from four-year College or University in Engineering (Civil or Structural preferred)
2-4 years structural engineering experience.
E.I.T. Certificate is required. Committed to obtaining P.E. Registration after required level of experience is preferred.
Construction site observation experience is preferred.
Ability to support P.E. in writing technical reports and business correspondence.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts as geometry, algebra, trigonometry, exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Ability to apply engineering concepts in two and three dimensions such as, statics, single degree of freedom dynamics, mechanics of materials, and stress and strain.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Understands failure modes and limit states.
Can accurately model flow of forces through components and system.
Strong spatial and visual aptitude.
Familiarity with Steel and Concrete Design. Knowledge of Aluminum design preferred.
Ability to qualify and quantify essential technical documents, building codes, general industry periodicals, material codes, and project specifications. Must synthesize this data to use in structural analysis of façade systems.
Ability to use CAD, Word Processing, spreadsheet, Email and Internet software.
Familiarity with STAAD Pro v8, MathCAD, Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit or similar design and analysis software preferred.
