The Supplier Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement in supplier related activities and metrics and serve as a liaison between suppliers and the company to ensure that outsourced material used in manufacturing of INFICON products meets our high quality standards.
Drives and champions quality improvements internally and externally. Results will be measured by project completion and supplier quality metrics.
Define, develop and expand key supplier quality metrics.
Initiate and follow-up Supplier Corrective Actions (SCAR) in partnership with Operations Engineering.
Ensures that internal needs for control systems are established, communicated and met in a timely and functional manner at the supply base.
Direct engagement with supply base to facilitate projects.
Develop an approval process for new or redesigned parts provided by a supplier.
Participate and conduct supplier qualifications and evaluations.
Provides expert analysis, guidance and support to Production/ Engineering/ Supplier process improvement activities, including effective use of problem-solving tools techniques, statistical analysis and inspection equipment and techniques.
Enhance process and procedures to review, track and report activity associated with ATEX components and suppliers per the standards.
Train diverse supply base on how to effectively execute Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and Corrective Actions Preventive Actions (CAPA)
Optimizes process capability on critical characteristics at the supply base through effective application of statistical analysis techniques and problem-solving.
Participate and provide disposition of supplier first articles submissions, to ensure they are submitted and approved to organizational requirements.
Develop component DFMEA, control plans, and SPC, as required.
Drive sustainability and packaging improvements with supply base.
Travel 15% - 30% of the year. Some international travel. Able to acquire a visa or passport as required
Bachelors degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Electrical) required; and a combination of at least 5-8 years manufacturing engineering or supply quality engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years of supply quality experience.
Must have demonstrated knowledge and experience with FMEA, Control Plan, statistical process control, inspection equipment and techniques, root cause and failure analysis, capability studies, statistical distributions, machine and assembly processes (i.e. forming, cutting. joining, finishing technologies) .
Problem solving, team facilitation, geometric dimensioning, and product/process change management.
Experience with report writing in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and analysis using Minitab required.
Lean Six Sigma experience required with demonstrated results. ASQ Certification of Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Black or Green Belt, Lean Certifications preferred.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 required. ATEX knowledge preferred.
SAP experience is preferred
Innovative problem solver, experience with 80 problem solving methodologies.

Must be able to work with Operations, Engineering and at all levels of the organization
