The Ball Helix Bioinformatics and Data Analysis team is searching for an associate scientist to support bioinformatics data analysis and quality assurance initiatives. The associate scientist will analyze bioinformatics datasets from a wide variety of plant species, design databases and assist in the organization of complex, diverse datasets. The ideal team member will be able to collaborate with key partners within Ball to develop rigorous experimental designs and analyze resulting data using a wide variety of bioinformatics and biostatistics methods. This position would be a great fit for a creative individual with a passion for plants that loves solving complex data related problems.  

Job Description:

• Support the implementation of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) as it relates to data organization and management
• Build data analysis workflows to support research initiatives at Ball Helix Central R&D
• Analyze a wide range of data including but not limited to: high throughput sequencing and phenotyping data
• Collaborate with other Ball team members and assist in the development of appropriate experimental designs
• Provide statistical support for the Ball Helix Central R&D team
• Develop and apply standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and reproducible data analyses
• Manage projects to ensure timely delivery of expected data analysis outputs
• Provide data analysis leadership to multi-disciplinary teams throughout Ball
• Possesses essential interpersonal skills to be an effective, collaborative team member
• Able to work independently on complex data analysis projects while acting as a resource for other team members
