This position provides quality engineering expertise for production. Utilizing the individual’s skill in manufacturing quality processes for assembly, and metal machining. Responsibilities include supervision of quality inspectors and technicians. The individual seeks out and works in a team approach to complete tasks to meet company or individual goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure systems are in place for assurance, exiting product meets customer requirements
Analyze and implement statistically based inspection sampling plans
Develop systems for real time shop floor inspection of product quality requirements using statistical methods
Ensure the gage calibration and recall processes are optimized
Develop and implement processes for supplier quality improvement and resolution of customer complaints. Provide quality engineering analysis & changes to new and existing products and production tooling, processes, and documentation
Improve existing products using root cause analysis and six sigma methodologies
Use root cause analysis and six sigma methodologies to drive reduction of scrap and rework
Implement & provide quality training for new processes
Research and prepare capital funding requests for improvement projects associated with quality processes
Aid in the design of quality related fixturing
Provides drawings, visual and verbal information and communication to Tooling Department in the development and making of tooling and fixtures to be used in the quality processes
Lead teams on quality improvement projects
Support the company’s vision, mission, goals, and values
Develop and lead the non-conforming material processes. Ensure compliance to the ISO 13485 quality system
Analyze, develop, monitor, and improve quality key performance indicators including the cost of quality
Supervision of direct labor employees and production/quality processes

Education, Skills and Experience Required:
BS, Engineering or Technical degree
Strong manufacturing background
3 to 5 years Supervisory experience
Experience in Flow Manufacturing concepts that use Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Kaizen events to create a World Class Manufacturing Environment preferred
Six Sigma Greenbelt trained; certification desired
Understand grades of metals and a variety of manufacturing processes
Solid knowledge of metrology; gage calibration and recall
Applies solid mathematical skills and general practices using standard machine shop gages and instruments
Injection molding experience a plus
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
Person must be resourceful and a self-starter
Must have experience systematizing process flows for improved efficiency
Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Must be conscientious and detail minded
Must be able to work in fast paced, quick changing atmosphere
Resourceful and self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Read, write, and verbally communicate in English
Good communication skill, both written and oral
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Applications, familiar with Creo, experience with Oracle, SAP or similar inventory control
