A Senior Project Manager supervises and has budgetary authority for civil engineering projects. A Senior Project Manager leads projects, teams and communicates between the firm and the Client, Sub-consultants, Local, State, and Federal Regulatory agencies, Public Authorities and the general public. The position requires 10+ years of experience in the transportation industry (roadways, rail ways, airport and traffic) and a Professional Engineering license is required. Individual should have relevant experience working with governmental agencies such as Departments of Transportation, Tollway Authorities, Departments of Aviation, and other state, county or local governments. Experience with public and private light and heavy railway design a plus.
This individual must be a representative of the EDI brand and business development efforts and involvement in professional societies or other industry relevant organizations is required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Projects The senior project manager position requires the individual to be well-versed in preparing scopes, proposals, and determining resources needed to complete client projects and objectives. This includes managing project budgets, invoices, and personnel, attending required meetings and authority in the preparation of plans, specifications, estimates of cost and reports for transportation projects. This individual is required to manage multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams, including individuals working remotely or in different offices. Local travel is required to job sites and various project meetings. Some out of region travel may be required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist the Vice President, Civil Engineering with developing strategies to progress EDI’s transportation expertise and industry prestige to secure future work.
Mentoring junior engineering staff in transportation projects, plans and specifications preparation, client and public interactions, as well as encouraging them to participate in industry societies and organizations and professional licensure is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of 10 years’ experience or the equivalent thereof. A PE license is required. Registered professional engineer in the State of Illinois and a valid driver’s license. Requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Individual must have experience preparing Phase I and Phase II engineering plans for the Illinois Department of Transportation or equivalent experience working with other agencies. Experience with local roads and MFT projects a plus. Barrier Warrant Analysis experience required. Experience with MicroStation Geopak required. Traffic Engineering and use of SYNCHRO and similar tools a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. The noise level on the construction site is often loud. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
