JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for one lecturer in the area of Environmental Engineering or General Civil Engineering, with a preference in Environmental Engineering. Outstanding candidates who wish to pursue research including scholarly publications, and contracts, and grants activity might be considered for a clinical assistant professor position. Preference will be given to those candidates who can teach a variety of environmental engineering and also general civil engineering courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. Successful applicants will have earned a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to teach courses and mentor students. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers the BS, MSE, and PhD degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The department has four tenured/tenure-earning faculty and one clinical assistant professor with over 170 undergraduate students and about 30 graduate students. The CEE Department has research strengths in the areas of transportation, environmental engineering, structures, materials, sustainability and water resources. Current and previous sources of faculty funding include federal sources such as DOT, NSF, DOE, NASA, and industry. ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Engineering currently has a research focus that addresses two National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Grand Challenge problems: restore and improve urban infrastructure; and provide access to clean water. The College of Engineering and the CEE department play an important role in solving these challenges. The College enrolls 35% of UAH’s undergraduates in ABET?accredited programs in aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial and systems, mechanical engineering.
