Project Manager, Heavy Civil Construction

Position: Project Manager Reports To: Senior Project Manager Classification: Exempt The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, production, and ultimate successful completion of all assigned projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Safety: Monitor assigned jobs to ensure that all safety practices are being followed · Scheduling of Projects: Using Microsoft project or equivalent software, update the progress of all critical path activities on assigned projects. Conduct job-site scheduling meetings. Assist in correspondence and Request’s For Information (RFIs) and review all critical correspondence with the Sr Project Manager and Chief of Field Operations. Maintain all documents in Project “secured share” file using the standard file structure. · Subcontractor Coordination: By tracking project schedules, contact subcontractors in advance of their work so they will be able to respond in a timely manner and track progress to ensure that they complete their work on schedule. · Material and Quality Coordination: Coordinate approval of shop drawings, fabrication and delivery with material suppliers to ensure timely placement of materials and certifications. Comply with the Project Quality Management Plan · Review Daily Time Cards and Diaries: Review and approve/reject time cards and diaries in the Heavy Job application daily. Analyze daily productions against estimated costs. · Review General Field Operations: Be proactive in your job and know your inspectors. Lead by Example - Night Operations, Weekend Operations, etc., and update crews with any plan sheet changes. If a major Field Problem arises, make the Chief of Field Operations and the Senior Project Manager aware ASAP. · Cost Accounting: Process pay estimates to the project owner. Prepare Subcontractor Pay Estimates as soon as possible. Create Phase Codes if necessary for tracking of additional work. Ensure billing of Force Accounts and/or additional work not covered by bid items. Ensure Stored Materials are submitted correctly on the Pay Estimates and process invoice immediately to accounting. Weekly Reporting of “Quantities” for Cost Reports. Code and approve project invoices. Close-out Jobs in a timely manner with the help of the Cost Control Technician and accounting. Verify that major material certifications are received prior to invoice approvals. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS · Degree in civil engineering, construction management, or equivalent. · Strong industry experience specific to heavy civil construction, or equivalent knowledge. · Strong command of all Microsoft Office products, including Project. CADD experience beneficial, not required. · Ability to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activities. · Excellent oral and written communication skills with professional and polished communication style to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, clients and government agencies. · Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done. · Strong work ethic with integrity and commitment to compliance and team environment. PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS · Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, walk, stand; Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. · Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record. · Willingness to travel within local areas.
