Director of Human Resources will lead the HR function and department for the organization. The Director will need to quickly embrace the mission of Santee Cooper and gain the trust and respect of HR staff. This will enable the individual to appropriately identify and implement opportunities to enhance the strategic vision for the human resources function. Talent management, technology utilization, HR financial acumen, data communication, and change management are all critical focus areas for this new leader to have a measurable impact on Santee Cooper.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director will partner with executive leadership on key strategic HR initiatives. In addition, the Director will provide leadership and oversight to all areas of HR. The leader will hold a key responsibility in the recruitment, development, and retention of an engaged, high-performing workforce and a culture that catalyzes the organizational strategy and mission performance.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative talent strategist and proven results-driven leader, with contagious leadership ability and superb communication skills. The candidate must be a dedicated and seasoned HR expert with proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive HR strategies, championing the value of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and collaborating with operational areas to improve the results of the organization.
This position will report to the Chief Financial and Administration Officer.

Creates, implements, and modifies HR policies and strategies that inspire trust, teamwork, integrity and are in alignment with the mission, vision values and strategic goals of Santee Cooper.
Leads by example in the active support and promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Hires and develops an exceptional human resources staff, ensuring they have the training and resources to maximize their effectiveness.
Develops and manages within the Human Resources departmental budget.
Pursues creative solutions for challenging talent acquisition needs and integrates adaptable systems and procedures to identify, recruit, and retain talent in an evolving talent market.

Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field is required. Master’s or other professional degrees are highly preferred but not required.
8 or more years of progressively responsible human resource management experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
Human Resources certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is highly preferred.
Demonstrated success in supporting a large, multi-faceted organization through a well-managed human resources program.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, develop strong working relationships, and achieve results through others.
Effective time management skills including the proven ability to prioritize and delegate in order to meet established deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and adapt to the changing needs of the company and its employees.
