We are looking for a Maintenance Distribution Crew Leader to oversee the day-to-day activities regarding operations and maintenance of the municipal electric utility distribution systems under contract to MRES in a safe and efficient manner in Jackson and Lakefield, MN.
Summary of Duties:
Performs the operation, construction, reconstruction, maintenance, and repair of the electrical distribution systems and associated equipment.
Maintains the inventory, time, and material records for all work performed.
Establishes work priority schedules and assigns daily duties.
Operates the electric distribution vehicles and related equipment and arranges for timely maintenance to ensure reliability and safety.
Performs the operation and maintenance of the electric generating plant systems and associated equipment, if present in the community.
Performs installation, of metering equipment and substation systems, and assists with maintenance, testing, and calibration of all controls in accordance with established operating and maintenance procedures.
Performs the customer meter installations and disconnects as directed.
Performs the installation and maintenance of the public outdoor lighting systems.
Performs the inspection, monitoring, and documentation of the operations, maintenance, and testing of distribution, generation, and associated equipment and facilities as required.
Coordinate with the Electric Distribution Superintendent in the near term and long term planning of distribution system modifications, improvements, or extensions as directed.
Serves “On-Call” and responds to call-outs of reported electrical system or service problems.
Performs all work in accordance with all applicable safety policies, programs, procedures, and reporting systems to assure a safe working environment for all personnel and the general public.
Performs general maintenance of the electric distribution vehicles, equipment and storage areas.
Responsible for observing and enforcing all safety rules and regulations.
Assists with the recruiting and interviewing; and, recommends the selection and retention of personnel supervised in accordance with policy.
Periodically reviews and appraises the performance of personnel supervised in accordance with policy.
Represents MRES at training seminars and conferences as assigned.
Keeps abreast of relevant profession, industry, and inter utility developments.
Coordinates with the Electric Distribution Superintendent in developing the MRES departmental budget.
Assists in developing the city departmental budget and capital improvement requirements.
Directly supervises 2-4 employees located at two municipalities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing and hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and health card, first aid certification, competency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and pole top rescue.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent and completion of Lineworker Apprenticeship or status as a 1st Class Journey Lineworker. Must have experience leading a line crew and demonstrated experience in performing construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground dead or energized conductors, structures, and equipment. Knowledge of fundamentals of electricity-related to the construction, maintenance, and operation of distribution and transmission lines and equipment.
