The Welding Process engineer will develop new techniques, tools, methods, and equipment to improve the maturity of their process as they work to meet the goals and metrics of the business.
Additionally, the Process Engineer will provide technical support for production, address manufacturing issues, disposition non-conforming product, and perform root cause corrective action to prevent future issues.
Welding processes at Chromalloy Nevada consist of Resistance, TIG, and Laser welding of superalloys used in the manufacture and repair of turbine engine components.
Apply CI tools and concepts on product/process subsystems or manufacturing systems
Optimize the production process, product design using a robust lean problem-solving methodology
Identify, develop and implement tooling/equipment improvements.
Troubleshoot process/production problems and implement actions/solutions
Develop KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes
Lead projects to successful completion considering technical, budgetary, manpower and schedule requirements
3-7 years of experience as a Welding Process Engineer
BS Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Aerospace)
Proficiency with CAD software (NX or Solidworks preferred)
Knowledge of gas turbine design methodologies yielding cost effective, producible designs
Knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes, finite element analysis, and 3D CAD modeling
Knowledge of various measuring techniques including CMM, white-light/laser scanning, gages, etc. and their use in developing designs
