The William States Lee College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte invites nominations and applications for the Lecturer/Advisor position. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month position that reports to the Assistant Dean in the Office of Student Development and Success (OSDS). The Lecturer/Advisor (LA) teaches the introductory engineering and engineering technology courses, provides accurate and timely career exploration and academic advising, and supports OSDS programs and activities. The LA also helps address retention issues specific to academically at-risk student populations, especially underrepresented minorities, females, transfer students, and non-traditional students. Candidates must have a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering management, or a relevant STEM field from an accredited university. In addition, they should have at least three years of professional work experience in an engineering-related position and an engineering-related degree. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 5 years of professional work experience in an engineering related position and who are registered professional engineers. Strong candidates are self-starters, able to work independently and with a diverse team, demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, and work in a fast-paced environment that serves a diverse student population, faculty, campus partners, alums, and employers. Experience with academia, first-year experience, grant writing, assessment, and evaluation of programs is desirable. Proficiency with various computer applications and Microsoft Office are essential skills.
