FACULTY POSITION IN OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University
Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University invites applications for one or more tenure track or tenured positions in Operations Management (OM) at open ranks. The OM area is seeking qualified applicants, particularly in the field of data analytics related to operation management or operations research topics (e.g., revenue management, supply chain management, sustainable operations, big data, etc.).
Successful candidates should have the ability to teach courses in data analytics such as data mining, machining/deep learning, predictive analytics, analytics programming, and data visualization. We have a particular interest in candidates with research and teaching focus in the areas of Innovation, Analytics, AI & Advanced Digital Technologies, Sustainability, or Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.
In addition to having data analytics discipline, we expect the applicant to demonstrate potential for research and teaching excellence. The start date will be August 1, 2024. Applicants who plan to complete the requirements for their PhDs within 2024 may be considered. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
The OM Area at Desautels brings together scholars specializing in analytics, operations management, operations research, and statistics. The OM Area is particularly interested in the candidates whose expertise lies in data-driven research and welcomes all candidates from related disciplines including statistics, economics and computer/information science provided there is significant OM component in the research. The appointed individual would be expected to publish in leading journals, perform well in the classroom and generate research funding. The teaching load and salary are competitive. McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing; but knowledge of French or a willingness to learn French is desirable.
About Desautels Faculty of Management and McGill University
Desautels Faculty of Management has more than 80 current tenured/tenure-track professors and offers B.Com., MBA, and Ph.D. degrees. The Faculty offers business analytics concentrations both at the undergraduate and MBA levels.
The OM Area is also engaged in the Master in Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management (GMSCM) program and the Master of Management Analytics (MMA) Program. The former is a joint program with Zhejiang University in China and significant industry involvement, whereas the latter is a multidisciplinary pre-experience Master’s degree featuring experiential learning in the field of business analytics. The recent focus on the founding of the Bensadoun School of Retail Management within Desautels Faculty of Management is a significant initiative. The new retail school will offer academic programs from the undergraduate to the PhD levels with input from global retailers, conduct research on the fast-changing sector, and feature a retail innovation lab to test out new ideas, technologies and products within an academic setting. The members of the area are also affiliated with CIRRELT or GERAD, which are among the most established research centers in North America.
