This position will assist the Design Flexibility Engineer and Design Support Section Director with analysis, research, technical writing, and design investigation. Provide assistance, information and training to MnDOT district offices and the statewide road design community. Tasks will include:
Responding to inquiries regarding Performance-Based Practical Design (PBPD) process and principles.
Reviewing design memoranda and geometric layouts.
Aiding in concept and preliminary design development.
Contributing to training efforts and assisting in the implementation of PBPD and complete streets.
Assisting with project development activities related to geometric design.

Engineer Senior qualifications:
Licenser as a professional Civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
Experience in highway/street project design development, including geometric design of roadway elements (e.g., alignments, vertical profiles, and typical cross sections)
Experience with state and national design policies related to geometric design, highway safety, roadway capacity, and practical and performance-based design.
Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, database management.
Engineer Grad 2 qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university and two years post-graduation civil engineering work OR a master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and one-year post-graduation civil engineering work.
Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
Experience in highway/street project design development, including geometric design of roadway elements (e.g., alignments, vertical profiles, and typical cross sections)
Experience with state and national design policies related to geometric design, highway safety, roadway capacity, and practical and performance-based design.
Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, database management.
